Imen McDonnell is an American cook, author & photographer. A former producer, she worked in television and commercial production while living in Minneapolis, New York & Los Angeles. In 2005, Imen traded city life for country ways and now resides with her Irish husband and their young son on a centuries-old farm in rural Ireland where she draws inspiration from the pastoral landscapes, dramatic light, country characters, time-honoured traditional cooking skills, and simply just being close to ground.
Imen's first book, The Farmette Cookbook: Recipes and Adventures from My Life on an Irish Farm was published by Roost Books and distributed by Penguin-Random House worldwide in spring of 2016.
In 2014, Imen created Lens & Larder, a series of food & photography retreats and gatherings guided by world-class professionals set in extraordinary country houses amidst the stunning backdrop of Ireland's most beautiful regions.
Imen has contributed words & photos to Condé Nast Traveler (USA), Town & Country (UK), The Guardian Cook, and her modern Irish recipes and stories from the farm have been featured in The New York Times, The Irish Times, The Sunday Times (UK) The Los Angeles Times, Food and Wine Magazine (USA), Huffington Post, Saveur Magazine, and shares illustrious stories of farm life & food on her popular blog, farmette.ie.
